Job Summary:

We invite applications for a permanent, full-time faculty position in Aviation Management within our School of Business. The selected individual will be responsible for:

  • Delivering courses at both introductory and advanced levels in aviation management, general business, and other specialized business areas.
  • Playing a pivotal role in the evolution and promotion of the aviation program at UFV and its presence in the wider community.
  • Overseeing our Aviation Programs at the UFV School of Business, ensuring their continued growth, relevance, and alignment with industry standards.
  • Contributing to Curriculum Development and Academic Innovation in Aviation Management. The faculty member will be instrumental in designing and updating the curriculum to reflect the latest trends and demands in the aviation industry. This includes developing new courses and programs, integrating technology and innovative teaching methods, and ensuring that our offerings remain at the forefront of academic and industry standards.

A professional designation and/or industry credential will be an asset, as will be evidence of past and current scholarly activity. Candidates with teaching experience at the post-secondary level, at an accredited university or college will be preferred.

The successful applicant will be expected to actively participate in departmental activities, service, events, and initiatives.  A commitment to an ongoing program of professional development is required.

The successful candidate will teach upper and lower-level courses in aviation management, general business, and possibly other functional business areas within the Business Administration program. In addition, there is an expectation that the faculty member will actively coordinate the development and promotion of the aviation program both within UFV and in the broader community.

UFV School of Business currently offers a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Diploma in Aviation. While earning their commercial flying licenses with flight training schools, students in this program take a variety of general and specialized business courses, the latter in subjects such as international air transportation, aviation management, and airport planning and management. Graduates of the program go on to pursue careers in the aviation industry, often as commercial pilots with regional and international carriers. UFV is looking to expand to offer other programs in the aviation industry.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have either a PhD (preferred) or Master’s degree (required) in a relevant discipline as well as workplace experience in the International air transportation industry, at a management level (required). A professional designation and/or industry credential will be an asset, as will be evidence of past and current scholarly activity. Candidates with teaching experience at the post secondary level, at an accredited university or college will be preferred.
