Job Summary:

The School of Health Studies, located in Chilliwack, is seeking collegial, energetic, and innovative individuals who communicate effectively with students in and out of the classroom; and who have shown a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Applications from qualified individuals are welcomed for six permanent, full-time faculty positions in the BSN program, starting August 1, 2024.

Our culturally diverse employee and student populations reflect the local, national, international, and Indigenous communities we serve. The School of Health Studies has a commitment to enhancing faculty and student knowledge of the “In Plain Sight: Addressing Indigenous-Specific Racism and Discrimination in B.C. Health Care” the “UNDRIP declarations on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples” as they pertain to health and health services and the “TRC Calls to Action” #18 through 24 as they pertain to post-secondary education. If you see yourself as a lifelong member of a community that values and nurtures innovation and creativity, cultivates leadership and citizenship, and where success builds on success, you belong at UFV.

UFV’s innovative and vibrant Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree offers a four-year program and a Licensed Practical Nurse Access to BSN Program stream over five semesters. Nursing faculty teach in the classroom, laboratory and clinical settings and require the flexibility to teach in more than one level of the program. Classroom and laboratory teaching occurs at the Canada Education Park Campus in Chilliwack. Clinical and community experiences occur in hospitals, community settings and health care agencies across the Fraser Health Region.

Given UFV’s mandate as a teaching intensive university, the nursing faculty are committed to scholarly and research activities that contribute to an innovative and positive teaching and learning environment. The successful applicant will share the nursing faculty’s commitments to anti-racism, decolonization, and Indigenization. Concept-based curriculum, simulation learning, and inter-disciplinary initiatives, are ongoing priorities for curriculum integration and development. In addition to teaching responsibilities, nursing faculty participate in scholarship and service contributions within the institution and the broader community.

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and a Master of Nursing degree or related field (current enrolment in a Master Program may be considered).
  • Recent clinical experience, preferably in childbearing families, pediatrics, community, or acute care nursing practice.
  • Experience teaching in a nursing program and/or direct supervision in clinical practice.
  • Experience with experiential learning is an asset.

The SAC will begin reviewing applications on April 8th, 2024; however, the positions will remain open until filled.
