Job Summary:

The Faculty of Applied and Technical Studies at UFV invites applications for an instructor in our Architectural Drafting Technician Program area for the 2024-25 academic year.

Under the general direction of the Director of the School of Trades, Faculty of Applied & Technical Studies, the Instructor will organize, develop, manage, and instruct Architectural Drafting programming.

Qualifications:

  • Architect or architectural technologist with experience in Canadian wood-frame construction and 5 years of experience in the Architectural field.
  • Experience in an architectural firm would be an asset. 
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with AIBC or APEGBC required.
  • Must have experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with VR apps like TwinMotion would be an asset.
  • Current and relevant work experience in architectural design, engineering, drafting and/or construction and development industry.
  • Diverse background including a high level of knowledge and exposure to the latest technologies and equipment used in the construction drafting and engineering fields.
  • Additional knowledge and experience in electrical, concrete, plumbing and acoustics fields would be an asset. 
  • Supervisory experience; leadership qualities; good interpersonal skills; good oral and written communication skills; and a working knowledge of computers and various software applications.

Preference may be given to candidates who are enrolled in or have completed the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program. Applicants should have a demonstrated history of ongoing professional development as both a draftsperson and as an instructor. Applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to creativity, innovation and/or the application of technology in the delivery of educational programs are preferred.

Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to teach and support the diverse student population served by UFV as an open access university. Experience in developing and delivering educational programming to both indigenous and international populations is an asset.
